My Mom came back from the company trip to Warsaw and the Baltic countries. She enjoyed it a lot she just got sick (that is, she now has a sore throat) from all the air conditioned travelling. She said she liked Warsaw the least and Tallin the best; they were taken to see "the Warsaw Ghetto," but she said there was nothing there, they were just told to look around and see blocks of flats and a playground and imagine it was the ghetto. Well there's not much to see in the former Budapest ghetto, either, but at least the houses are still the same, and Jewish people are still walking around.
We talked for around 10 minutes on the phone and the longest story she told was this: they were in a city where very pretty jewelery was sold. A colleague of hers asked her and another woman to help him select a ring for his wife. They inspected some pieces and this other woman only liked the ones that were too expensive. The man (who is, by the way, my Dad's friend) did not want to buy those, and my Mom suggested, "why don't you take this, this looks nice". He liked it, too, and it was at a reasonable price, so he bought it. Now the point of the story is this: my Mom is now worried: what if the wife is not going to like the ring, and the whole family will blame her for picking the wrong ring? She then added, as if to console herself, that they have two daughters, and one must like the ring if the mother does not like it! How can she be anxious about this?!
Now I would like to clean up the kitchen and do laundry, but there's somebody sleeping in the couch. I saw a fly on the sole of that person when I just went out, because she is sleeping on her stomach. Who can it be? If it's G's girlfriend, why doesn't she sleep in his room? Is it a new girl? well anyway, I hope she gets out soon because I want to cook! Éhes vagyok!!
